Guh. I am in -such- need of a keeper. Today? I went to the bookstore. Biiiiig mistake. I got there approximately a quarter after three, Ivan had a doctor's appointment at 4. Me? I strolled out of the store at, oh, three minutes after four... *Bangs head on wall*

I went to the store, because I was in need of breakfast and a few groceries. What did I come home with? Cake mix, cookies, frosting, ice cream, candy... And breakfast, yes. And butter and eggs (though technically, I only needed the eggs once I picked up the cake mix).

Just now? I started to build the index page for the Cleektor section of GiAnSq, only I got so thoroughly sidetracked by looking at sozai sites that I only just now noticed it was after midnight. Again, guh.

I wish I hadn't been such a ditz at work. It'd be nice to still be getting paid.

Oh, and Ivan seems to be okay -- he just had a cough today, which is kinda wierd for a kitty. (Of course, with all the dust around here, God knows he could simply have gotten some up his little nose... Or inhaled a bug, or... God only knows. This is the cat that -brought- my mother a piece of lettuce so they could play with it... *Rolls eyes*)

I wanna go to Vegas. *Pokes Orbitz's pop-up ad* Damn you, Orbitz!

Of course, at this point in time, I'd be thrilled just to get over the border into Canada, let alone to somewhere dry, warm, and sunny.

I got travelin' feet, and they wanna go.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 12:41 AM |

Oh, hey, November is coming up again. That means that (possibly) it'll be time for the NaNoWriMo contest/challenge thingy. I should go check on that.

In other news, Ivan's not doing as well as previously thought. Not in the respiratory department -- he hasn't been coughing since yesterday -- now his left hind foot is swollen and painful. Like, Don't Touch! painful. So I hauled him off to the vet (Mercury's vet, since VCA was full-to-bursting this afternoon and our other vet is closed over the weekend) and the doc said it was either a cat bite, a bug bite, or a fracture, but no way to tell without an X-ray, which they couldn't do because technically, they were closed. (I didn't offer to help, because I was so grateful that he even -chose- to look at Ivan that I didn't want to make him stay any later than absolutely necessary.)

And sitting here on the couch, with Ivan sprawled across what is technically Yasminda's bed, I can see that his back foot is swollen. Poor baby. But anyhow... We're going to try antibiotics for a few days, and if that doesn't fix the swelling (he doesn't have a fever...yet), then it's X-rays for certain sure.

Veterinary Trick Of The Day:
If you have a pet that requires daily medication, here's what TA's and techs do to make their own lives easier!
1) If the medication comes in a liquid form, choose it. Pills work, they're just a little trickier.
2) Buy some Science Diet Perscription food in the A/D formula (A/D stands for anorectic diet; it's a highly flavorful food that very few animals turn down. Kinda spendy -- I just paid $1.20 a can, but you can make one can last a while, -and- it gets the critter to eat, so...)
3) Mix the recommended doasage with a quarter-can of the A/D and serve. Watch your medicating-related trials go right down the drain! (To use pills instead, you can either crush or sprinkle the medication; with capsules that can't be reduced to powder, simply refrigerate the A/D, then hide the pill inside a blob.)

Dearest Penn Gillette,

You have my undying admiration and gratitude for your speech on gun safety (even if yoiu did forget that there is Rule 1A: Once you have checked the chamber/magazine, continue to treat the gun as if it were loaded). But mostly? I love you BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOUR BULLET TERMINOLOGY.

Yours in wonder and delight,
Shan

I just made the dog worry and woke up Ivan. I probably also caused the neighbor's dogs to go berserk, my shriek was that high-pitched.

I want a House Of Fishcakes shirt! *Giggle*

Notice: Unlike Lemony Snicket, I am speaking truth: avoid Nutcracker brand "sweets" at all costs. If you do not, you will regret it. I don't know what's wrong with their recipies, but they're bad, bad, _BAD_. The chocolate tastes strongly of cardboard; the peanut butter is mushy and gross (the ratio of real peanuts used to 'other things' is probably very, very low); and the caramel... I don't know, but it's just a little -off-.

...The lesson here? Spring for the -expensive-, name-brand candy.

I have GOT to go to the store tomorrow.

As some of you know, I have a character named Maus Kjell Biederlack. I myself have an email address with 'mausiegirl' as part of it; I find 'Mausie' to be an appropriate nickname for myself (because I generally don't make much of an impression at first, but I can be as annoying as hell when I want to be, much like a single mouse. Having lived with bloody damned evil irritating hideous mice, I should know). I know that 'Maus' is German for 'mouse', and that is why I chose it.

The week that contained Wednesday, October 9th, I was in Bosco's and saw Maus: A Survivor's Tale on the shelf.

I can't say what I want to, about this interesting occurrance, at this moment. Perhaps it is enough, at this moment, that I have seen this and am seriously considering buying it.

I am Bruckheimer's puppet.

TAR? Bruckheimer.
CSI? Bruckheimer.
Without A Trace? BRUCKHEIMER.

I have to go to sleep, now. Or try to, what with the 15-pound cat currently sitting on my shoulder and attempting to knead her way through my abdomen...

I am also horribly, horribly tempted to buy a Ronco Showtime Rotissere and BBQ.

Dear CWD,

Look, we've had this conversation before, I -know- we have. Fred? Is not, I repeat, NOT "dealing with technology" in your commercial. He is dealing with IDIOTS dealing with technology. Everyone in IT (which, BTW, your AD IS AIMED AT) knows this. It's not the technology -- that's so bloody easy it's almost laughable -- it's THE STUPID MORONS USING THE TECHNOLOGY WITHOUT KNOWING THEIR KEYBOARD FROM THEIR MOTHERBOARD. Or their asses from a hole in the ground, given how dumb the people in your ads are. To sum up, knock off the asinine commercials.

Love, Shan

In other news? I have a new layout coming. (*Snerk* And no, Reesa and I are not having a race to see who can keep promising that the longest.)

...Okay, how on God's great green Earth can you make money by -buying- property and then holding on to it (unless, of course, you just turn around and sell it)? And Mr. Sheets, a nickle less than ten dollars is NOT that much.

Okay, can someone explain to me why, if there are 14-year-olds that are bright enough to figure out how to use Blogger and BlogSpot, they are _not_ equally bright enough to write properly? *Pulls hair* I hatehateHATE loading a blog only to be greeted with things like the following:

Oohh yeah..LANCE is such a dumb ass. he said dat man gurl wanted to come to mah skoo. but then he changed his mind cuz he didnt want her to get hurt. stupid lance..and why wuz he askin for my number n-e wais? wuts dat got to do wid all dis? aghhh mahgosh...i still gotta talk to him. ~ey! i need help!!! can someone tell me how i can change the bg color of my title bar? the one dat says "twisted -in pink".u know the one das kinda like dark reddishbrownpink? Ta-da! (I hope.)
Posted by: Shannon M.: 2:47 PM |

Er, lemme go fix a couple of things...
Posted by: Shannon M.: 2:50 PM |

No, -this- should be better.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 2:53 PM |

You know, the testing stage is -always- testing. *Grump* *Pokes Blogger* Quit mucking up my code, you.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 3:00 PM |

_Now_? Please? *Chews on Blogger*
Posted by: Shannon M.: 3:02 PM |

Okay, I'll live with that for right now. I need a drink of water and to go down to Cleaning World(!) to do nasty-ass laundry that my brother feels is beneath him. Or something like that...

Yo, CSI Writers/Producers And/Or Other Types Responsible For What Gets Portrayed On Screen:

Watch a freakin' hockey game before you go making a case about one, 'cause that facial injury? Not realistic. Particularly the way it looked on the bench after he skated back -- not even hockey players bruise -that- fast.

Eye-rollingly yours,
Shan
Posted by: Shannon M.: 8:09 PM |

Good God. Why does everyone assume A) that hockey wouldn't be hockey without all the hitting and B) anyone that plays hockey is either a moron or a psychotic goon that likes hurting people.

A is not at ALL true -- there's almost _no_ checking of any kind in the all-star game, and it's some of the best damn hockey you can watch.
B isn't true, either. Every finesse player in the league, in -any- league, can tell you that. For some reason, some people can't accept the fact that there's another way to play besides beating the hell out of the other side. *Grump*
Posted by: Shannon M.: 8:23 PM |

It's really, really, -really- disturbing to watch previews for 8 Mile. Why? Because, and I hate to admit this, I find Eminem -interesting-. Unduly so. Not his music, so much, but he himself? Faaaaaascinating.

Speaking of music, Mr. Clean jingle-manglers? No. Just -no-. If you're going to use that tune, for cryin' out loud, bring back the original! *Sings* Mister Clean gets rid of dirt and grease and grime in just a minute, Mister Clean can clean your whole house and everything within it...
Posted by: Shannon M.: 8:54 PM |

Is there anyone else in the world that thinks it's 156 kinds of wrong that Burnin' Ring Of Fire is being used for an Applebee's commercial, or is it just me?

...And I liked CSI, aside from the hockey-ineptness of the plot. The guy in charge of the field squad is funny, and the dark-haired lady is okay. The blond is annoying; Gary The Lab-Guy is great -- kind of a Agent Pendrel(l? I forget, guh), though not as nervous in the presence of females.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 9:13 PM |

Yo, Danny-On-TV! wear -gloves- if you're going to touch stuff in a suspect's house!

Also? I didn't really like the antagonist the first time we met him, now that I've seen that he keeps a muzzled Shepherd -chained- at the bottom of his basement/darkroom steps, I -know- he's A Bad Guy. Grrrr... You don't have to muzzle a sweetie-pea dog like that, and keeping a dog tied up in the basement is just.... Grrr. Grrrrrr.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 9:31 PM |

Bwahaha! Oh, -heee-. *Grin* The head guy -- *Checks* Jack Malone, played by Anthony LaPaglia, plays an -excellent- asshole law-guy. Hee.

Er, the head guy on Without A Trace, I mean.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 9:48 PM |

The blond girl in the new commercial for the singularly _FUGLY_ Subaru Baja has a disturbing forehead. Eek.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 9:50 PM |

People that should not wear turtlenecks include the actress playing the head of the FBI in WoAT.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 9:56 PM |

Oh, -yeah-. LaPaglia is _good_. Hee. I bet he'd play a damn good mafioso, too.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 9:58 PM |

It's Jose Chung's From Outer Space! *Sniggle* Jesse 'The Body' Ventura! Alex 'Jeopardy' Trebek! Scully making terriffic faces! Hair that's red, but it's -too- red, you know?! Joyful skewering of the usual stuff Mulder takes entirely too seriously! Pie! A really poorly-written screenplay! Lord Kinbote! The inner-core reincarnated-soul's sex orgy! Hypnotism! Naked Air Force pilots! "Ask her if the third alien had a Russian accent."
Posted by: Shannon M.: 10:19 PM |

The word 'confabulation'! Real Live Alien Bodies! Girly Screams! Blankety-blanks and bleeps! "Not because I -had- to, but because I -wanted- to."! Bleepin' dead aliens! Scully threatening a harmless geek!

This episode reminds me of why I fell in love with Mulder and Scully in the first place. *Siiiiiiigh* It's really too bad that it had to fall apart so badly at the end. You'd think that I was writing the mytharc plots or something...
Posted by: Shannon M.: 10:28 PM |

Er... *Blinkblink* If Hummer wants us to slip into something a little more 'metal'....Why are they playing -techno- in the background?

Yaaaaaaaay! *Bouncebounce* My new AC adapter is here! *Dances around* And it's currently (ha!) plugged in and charging my poor little Fiach... Whee!
Posted by: Shannon M.: 2:31 PM |

Ivan was just playing with/trying to eat a piece of leftover lettuce. *Blink* And sticking his foot in the dog's water dish, right down to the bottom.

Weird little cat.

Wheeee! *Bounce* There's a new William Gibson book on the horizon!

Also? GiAnSq is up and running, but not totally functional (read: there are two pages, total), yet. That will change Monday evening, to be sure.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 12:48 AM |

Muddy and Ivan like to watch the cursor on the computer screen. Hee.
