So... What is it I'm missing, here? I don't -like- Harley-Davidsons. I don't _love_ them, either. Is it something wrong with me, or is them? I don't like the way they sound, I don't like the way they look, and I really just don't -get- the allure. *Shrug* If you like 'em, great. You go right ahead. Just remember to wear your helmet. *Nodnod*

The Girdwood Forest Fair and the wee teeny town of Talkeetna.

...Yes, Alaskans are weird. But we're nice! *Grin*

*In a sing-song voice* Announcements, announcements, announcements, announcements...

1) Probably as of tomorrow, email sent to elvisorp@alaska.net will not reach me. I'm finally biting the bullet and giving up on my ISP. If you need/want to reach me, shannonm_eca@yahoo.com. I will send everyone in my address book my new address when I know what it is. Heh.
2) Having said that, however, I -will- be online, albeit somewhat erratically, in the next couple of days -- we're switching from a dialup account to a cable modem. The why is, in part, the obvious reason (speed); the other part of it is that I'm simply not happy with ACS any more. *Shrug*

I am posting to you all from the not-real-comfy comfort of a wooden chair in my living room, entirely too close to the TV. However, I have a cable modem, so it all works out.

Whee!

...I'll be setting up my new email address just as soon as I figure out what I want my username to be.

Blargh. A) I am awake. I have been since about 4:30. Not Fun. B) My connection keeps dropping. Still. Even at this hour of the morning. C) My knees -hurt-, inexplicably. D) I am hungry.

I'm just a big happy ball of sunshine, aren't I?

*Giggle* I got Yasminda a toy cow this afternoon, and she loves it. It's not very big -- about four inches tall -- and it has a squeaker inside. She's already put a couple of holes in it, but out of enthusiasm rather than an appetite for destruction. She loves squeaky toys.

"Good LORD but that woman did NOT look like she owned her own hair." -- in Re: a commercial for a local wig company showing a shot of a blond woman playing with a dog. She was wearing something that gave her a riot of blond curls that nearly reached her waist. It's easier to understand if you see it.

Today is my grandparent's' forty-ninth wedding anniversary. Whee!

Two things: Does anyone have any secrets for motivating themselves to do things they really, really, _really_ -don't- want to do?

And... Any requests, ideas, words or pairings they'd really like to see me fiddle with? I've got, like, zero inspiration and zero motivation, even for writing. I don't really know what I need, besides a swift kick in the butt and/or a good chat with someone unrelated to me. Or something.

If anyone gets email about MetaMax that appears to be from me? It's not. Some ass used my email addy as their return address to do a mass-mailing, and _I_ ended up with all the bounced email.

...I need a new email address.

Switch to a Maaaaac... Swiiiiiitch to a Maaaaaac.... *Snerk* I was wondering when Apple would try this angle.
Posted by: Shannon M.: 11:07 AM |

Yaaaargh! *Siiiiigh* Maybe, some day, I will have the ability to travel to the cities in which I can attend events put on by some of my favorite....outfits. F'rinstance, Tool's going to be in Texas. Dallas-Ft. Worth, even. On the 23rd of June. Me? I'll be there... The 27th. Alton Brown? Was in Dallas on the 10th.

...Not that I'd really -want- to go to a Tool concert in DFW, as there are entirely too many (possibly scary) people there. But still!

Dear Malcom In The Middle Writers:

Have you ever -watched- a kids' hockey game? More to the point, a -girls- hockey game?
I didn't think so.

Thanks for promoting stereotypes,
Shan, who just remembered why she almost never watches network TV any more.

If you have -ever- wondered if people in Alaska have too much time on their hands, the answer is yes. Proof? Well, Bachelorettes In Alaska for one (good GOD but that looks hideous. How dare FOX defile my precious state? And what kind of rep is this giving my state? Guh. I now fear that I will arrive in DFW, be introduced as being 'from Alaska', and people piping up with "Oh, do you know Sissie/Cecile/Karen/Rebekah? I love/hate that show!")

The other one is that a local carpet outfit that has a giant fibreglas chicken on the roof is in trouble with the zoning comission because some twit with nothing to do reported that they have a "sign on the roof". It's a big chicken, one I might add that has been around town since the late sixties. Also? It has no words written on it. It's -just- a friggin' chicken.

"I gained a -lot- of weight; I went up to like a size twelve" Fuck you, stupid. A size twelve is NOT A) all that big and B) the end of the world.

I have GOT to watch something else.

Everyone think good, Highland/Southside clinic thoughts for me? *Crossing fingers* I put in an application at Highland on Monday (they even had an opening); VCA Alpine and Southside today. I really would prefer SoSi or Highland... I don't know when I'll hear back from anyone.

I'm gonna try to write, now.

My cable company is rearranging things at the beginning of July, so that you have to pay extra for (a) digital converter(s) as well as digital cable if you want to see what they consider 'special-interest' channels. What is defined as 'special interest'? TechTV, Discovery Health, The International Channel... Yet CSPAN (who watches -that-, willingly?) MSNBC, The Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, The Sci-Fi Channel, sports and music channels are -not- considered 'special interest'. Not that I'm really -complaining- all _that_ much -- I love me some Sci-Fi and Animal Planet -- but it puzzles the HELL out of me as to why most if not all channels aren't considered 'special interest' when they appeal to a limited segment of the population.

On another bitchy note, I am heartily sick and tired of my dialup connection dropping when I'm browsing pages. I swear, if/when I get money, I'm switching to DSL/Cable modem service. And getting my own domain.

Er, as an addendum to the Un Tipo Rudo and Pretty Girl pictures? I know the people in the photos. They're spiffy. *Grin*

And another update of Reads. I gotta go take a shower and head to the library, followed by the excruciating operation of going 'round to local vet surgeries and asking if they want/need a summer-and-beyond grunt... Whee.
