Irritability: Exoth is my favorite. He was my favorite from the second strip he was in. Usually it takes a little longer than that... And the rest of the cast is just _insane_.

It's Computer Fun Day! This means that as soon as my dad shows up, I try to talk him into buying a Mac. Whee. Ah well, it should be interesting, if nothing else... I get to look at/mess with computers. And I might even get lunch out of it.

Gaaaaaaaaaah... Why, God, Why? What did I _do_?

I'm home. I want to avoid my father for then next couple of years.

The man is a computer-shopping nightmare. Not that I didn't know this, it's just that... I was hoping it would be better than it was? I don't know.

He has a computer, though, and it only cost him about 400 dollars. It didn't come with Word or Works, though, and it has OutLook Express. Setting it up is gonna be fuuuuuuuun. At least that can wait a little while.

For those in search of desktop wallpaper/themes/icons/whatever, I present: Anime Desktops. Site navigation is something of a nightmare, but it's worth the effort of figuring it out.

Oh, and I don't like Summer Solstice. NO offense to those that love and/or worship -- it has nothing to do with the pagan side of things at all.

It's just that Solstice means the days start getting shorter again, and I _hate_ that. *Whinewhine* I wanna stay in summer for -everrrrrrr-... *Shuts up and goes back to looking at pretty pictures*

Mmph. *Pokes at things* Are you gonna give me my art post, or do I have to bite you?

And Scrubby -- I think you mean varicose veins. *Squint* 'Spider veins' is another, though unofficial, term for 'em. And at least you guys have an outdoor -pool-. If I wanna go swimming in the great outdoors, I have to find a -lake-... There's a Roz Chast cartoon comapring the merits of various parks (some fictional, some not) and one of the entries is 'Unsavory Things on Bottom of Lake'. Every time I think about swimming, I think of that... *Quits babbling*

This post is going to be Pro-Firearms, for those of you in the audience that wanna skip that sort of thing.

I know that this banner is probably offensive to a lot of people. It offends me, too. And it offends me twice as much because it loads on _MY_ pages.

What is the banner for? A gun-control campaign entitled 'Unload And Lock'.

Not that I'm protesting the idea of gun safety -- it's a good idea -- but rather I'm annoyed by the implication that that's all it takes; that you can solve every accidental gun-related death by doing this one thing.

You can't.

You simply cannot put your gun away, pretend it doesn't exist, and never tell your kids anything about them. That won't save their lives if/when they find it, or if/when their friends find -their- parents' guns. Guns are a lot like pregnancy, in a way -- you don't give someone the -real- facts, they're going to end up in a world of hurt.

The only way to keep a kid safe with a gun in the house is to teach them about it -- this is what it is, this is how you handle it -safely-, this is what will happen to you or anyone if you shoot them with it. This is something you DON'T play with. This is something that you NEVER EVER touch without adult supervision. This is something you NEVER EVER mess with without parental PERMISSION.

Guns have been in my household long before I was born. My maternal great-grandmother was the best shot in the survey camps she cooked for. My grandmother won medals as champion Junior NRA sharpshooter. I'm not a bad shot myself, and I'm willing to bet that my mother's no slouch either. I'm a better shot than my -dad-.

I was introduced to shooting at about age six. My father and my mother were both there, both laid out the rules, both told me and -showed- me how one conducts oneself around weapons of any sort.

Always treat them as if they're loaded until you -know- they're not, even then, -continue- to do so.
Always check the chamber for ammunition; remove ammo if present. (Side note: what kind of idiot keeps their guns -loaded- when they're not at the range?)
Always point them in a safe direction; never point them at anything you -don't- intend to shoot.
Never use them while under the influence of any altering substances, whether that's alcohol or illegal drugs.
Never mess with guns when it's not necessary.

When I was little, and even now that I'm older, I _never_ thought/think of guns when I'm mad at someone/something. They're simply not part of the equation. I guess it's because I'm a little more personal in my anger -- if I wanna kill someone, I wanna do it with my bare hands. Heh.

Anyhow. This banner campaign (there are several different versions, including a couple with the same childish artwork and stereotypical 'i killed someone' scrawlings) is designed to bypass rationality and hit people right in the emotions. It is manipulative, sickening, and dangerous. I have never been interested in joining the NRA, because most people see thise initials and think 'oh, gun-toting redneck kill-em-all-let-God-sort-em-out zealot', and as with 'Christian', I'm just not interested in that lable, thanks. I'm beginning to think that maybe I -should- be a member, though. I don't know. All I know is that the idiots always spoil it for those of us that are responsible, and that this campaign bothers the hell out of me. Maybe I need to change servers _AGAIN_.

And in the spirit of the post before last -- Spent Casings. If _nothing_ else, go for the interesting extrapolation in the northwest/upper-left potion of the title graphic.

Proof that once again, I _really_ don't understand drinking-as-a-pastime. *Blinkblink*

*Twitch* *Blink* I _REALLY_ _HATE_ that bloody -screech- that IE 5.5 makes when it finishes with a zip file. *Twitch* I'm sitting here, listening to Yoshio Saotome, and am -so- not ready for it when it happens...

The animals around here, with the notable exception -our- dog, have been making an excessive amount of racket of late. Night before last there was a dog that was barking... it started about, oh... ten? eleven? And was still barking when I _finally_ managed to fall asleep about 3:30. It was also barking last night, but I tuned it out earlier... and there was another dog barking somewhere that sounded so much like Yazminda that I kept checking to make sure she was in the house. Today, next door's evil little yappy dogs were all riled up about something... They're quiet, now.

I'd just like to say that I really _don't_ like Shampoo. *Grumple* She's just... I don't know. The first thing that comes to mind is 'She's a bitch.', but it's probably more complicated than that.

*Snerk* I misread 'Shi and Cyblade' as something about 'shibby Cy and Skids'...

Hee. "Shampoo love boy-type Ranma. Maybe pervert girl like only girl-type Ranma? Tell truth now!"
"Who're you calling a pervert!?"
"Calling -you-."

Thanks for the help, 'Reesa-chan! *Bounce* Ev's got IE 5.5 on his computer, now... Not like he -knows-, or _wanted_ it, but here it is. Heh.

*Giggles at Scrubby* Could have been worse! He could have walked into the house and started shaking his head, saying in a mournful tone, "these people are so, so messy..."
