Oh, -that- explains it...

The last two days have been kind of odd... Maybe it's just spring, or maybe it's Beltane, or maybe it's just me.

I was in the shower on Sunday night, rinsing my face, when I had the distinct impression that if I opened my eyes, there would be someone there. There, as in standing in the tub with me. A split-second later, I knew that if I looked, their shadow would be on the shower curtain. And then, just as suddenly as they came, they were gone.

Ever since we lived in my great-grandparent's' house, I've been convinced that there's something inhabiting our (or maybe just _my_) bathtub. I mean, sometimes there's a serious -Presence- behind that curtain... And so I wondered if the visitor on Sunday was The Bathtub Spirit.

Heeeey! Undirected whining works! Amazon shipped five of my six books today, and they should be here by Saturday at the earliest.

A Picture Is Worth... Something.

Now, -this- is how skiing _should_ be.

Mike Jacober, from whose ultralight this picture was taken, flies out of Birchwood Airport. He also taught my dad to fly, and they're pretty good friends. Cool.

Better yet, start from the beginning and see the Year In Pictures for Anchorage. (Look! It's Scotty! *Grin*)

Why I Write:

Being, apparently, of an age where -I- am supposed to tell stories to the next generation, no one tells -me- stories. So I have to write my own.

That and Lynn Flewelling's next book isn't due out 'til _August_... *Whine whine whine, snivel whimper sigh*

Why do _you_ write?

"I'm the only one..."

And -speaking- of Lynn Flewelling: Okay, so I'm probably _not_ the only one, but... Really. I don't think that anyone else is -qualified- to write Seregil/Alec fic except Ms. Flewelling. Even if Pumpkin is a fairly talented writer (I seem to remember that her Sentinel stuff was pretty good), she's -still- NOT Lynn. And Lynn's the only one that can write them.

This is kind of a weird attitude for me to have, considering that I will happily read fic based on all manner of other books, movies, TV shows, or even commercials.... (The Coke commercial with the people on the subway car -- the guy that snags the Coke from his friend is _so_ not looking at any of the girls with them....) (Of course -that- is merely subtext, rather than an established relationship...)

*Blink* So maybe _that_ is part of it -- Alec/Seregil fic is silly/not necessary/not my thing because it's not an exploration of possibility. I already _know_ they've got a relationship, so there's no need for a What-If.

More On Shoes.

Yes, I know it's typical and girly and Cathyesque to obsess over shoes, but... I _like_ shoes. More to the point, I like shoes that look 'cool', in my mind, along with being more or less practical. (Yeah, I know, the Vis á Vies don't fall in the category of 'practical' by any means. But I -did- say _mostly_!)

Anyhow, I found The Future Inc. while running a search for 'rockabilly' on Ebay. I finally got around to coming back and looking through their shoe section, where I found Sha Sha Shoes. I want a pair! At least one. Preferably a couple, so I can have MaryJanes and regular lace-up shoes.

Actually, I found a better site for Sha Sha shoes... Cleverly enough, it's sha-sha dot com.

Eeeeeigh...

Okay. The word of the day, kids, is 'dichotomy'. Dye-cot-oh-mee.

JellyBabyz (ver. 2.0, even) Vs. KabukiVice (4.0, I think).

Kabuki Vice is home to the art and writings of a photography major, and includes a tiny little Dark Is Rising slashfic archive (Summer's Men by Kest is lovely).

JellyBabyz is... Well, definitely NOT literary in nature. It apparently has something to do with Mindscape's (mindspring's?) 'virtual babies'... I'm not sure _what_, though, as the awful thing crashed my browser before I got a chance to figure out what the page was about.

I found KB by the expedient method of reading the URL in the sig file of the author's posts to RareSlash (which is a pretty spiffy ML), and JB was the result of _not_ being able to resist exposing myself to the inevitable 15 y/o girly-girlness of a Blog titled 'Angel Star Babyz Diary'.

"I'll replace all the URLs with Uniform Resource Locators." "Good."

Er, RareSlash's ML page is here. The only nice thing about this whole e-groups-onelist-yahoo merger mess is that you can link -other- email addies to your yahoo ID, thereby saving yourself the headache of having to remember to go check your yahoo mail.

...If you take 'one on hand' to mean 'we saw a copy, like, last year or something... But that was, like, at Border's...Maybe...'

I am raaaaaather unimpressed with Amazon's so-called 'order status' pages. It _says_ they have one copy of each available, yet the six books I ordered over a -month- ago won't arrive until May 3rd at the earliest and May 16th at the latest.

And this is _AFTER_ I was told that they were supposed to arrive between April 26 and May 16.

So. When am I going to get my books? I have no idea. I'm beginning to think that if they don't ship by, say, May 6th, I'm canceling my order and taking my money to TitleWave. And if they have a 'Why are you canceling?' page, I'll tell them -- your page said this, yet I still didn't get them. Not Impressive.

Yeah, I'm cranky. 'M sick again, and I just found out I'm only going to be paid for about two weeks in May rather than the whole month. And I probably can't talk them in to giving me overtime for the auction, 'cause I volunteered...

On the other hand, I -did- finally get paid for April.

More Clothing That I don't Need

Girlfriends LA -- normally, I'd dismiss this outfit as being waaaaay too girly and insipid for me, but for two things. One, their sizes go up to 25 (which I think is strange, but as it fits _me_, I ain't complaining); and two, they have Blue's Clues shirts that'll fit me! And really cute giraffe shirt, though I've no -clue- as to why it caught my eye...

Er... And Delia's has this shirt with a strip of the loop-side of Velcro across the chest, that comes with a set of hook-backed letters... It's the 'Spell Tee' under Logo Tees.
